Carlos - Simulator Pilot in Madrid
How would you describe your role to someone who has no idea what you do?
My job is to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely behind the scenes. We play an essential role in training Air Traffic Controller students by supporting various situations and scenarios in the simulators. I receive instructions from the student and act on them in real time, helping the session feel as realistic as possible. I need to stay focused, follow procedures and always be ready to react calmly if something unexpected happens.
What is it like working at our Remote Pilot Centre (RPC) in Madrid?
I really enjoy being part of an environment where everyone is focused on the same goal and where what I do truly matters. I was pleasantly surprised by how supportive and open the team here is, especially when it comes to learning and improving. That made it much easier to grow into the role.
How do you spend a free weekend?
I like staying active and spending time outdoors, especially going for a run. I also enjoy spending quality time with my girlfriend, friends and family — cooking together or watching football.
